Pastoral Care and Life Events
Caring pastorally for people is an important part of life at St James.
As with other CofE churches, St James welcomes requests to help with those important life events we all face from time to time. Whether you want to ask about a wedding, or a baptism (Christening), or are arranging a funeral for a loved one, please contact us.
As a church, we believe that all are within the love of God, but at times we encounter struggles in life, so if you are facing one of these times and would like someone to talk to about it then please contact us. We have pastoral visitors who are very happy to call in, and if you would like them to pray with you, they would be pleased to.
Our aim is to provide Biblical, loving and practical pastoral care for every member of our church family and across our community.
Baptism
We are delighted that you are thinking about having your child, or yourself, baptised (you can also say christened). St James Church welcomes all who wish to be baptised into the Church of England, regardless of age. There is no fee, although a collection is taken at the end of the service. Donations are welcomed.
Weddings
Marrying in church is personal, meaningful and spiritual, just as you want it to be. Churches are special and unique places to get married in – the prayers, promises, and the whole service of celebration become part of your marriage, on the day itself and beyond.
Funerals
St James Church is here to help you through one of life’s most difficult times. A Church of England funeral is available to everyone in the parish, giving support before, during, and after the service, for as long as it is needed.
